Ecologische huishoudhandschoenen
De Green tips huishoudhandschoenen van Lotika zijn de eerste sociaal en ecologisch verantwoorde huishoudhandschoenen ter wereld. Ze zijn gemaakt van natuurrubber uit duurzame bossen en dragen het FSC keurmerk (Forest Stewardship Council). Het rubber wordt op - aldus Lotika - een fairtrade manier geproduceerd in Sri Lanka en ook het natuurrubber komt van een plantage in Sri Lanka. Daar wordt op een duurzame manier omgegaan met het milieu en met de rubberbomen. Hierdoor wordt de biodiversiteit bevorderd. Het FSC keurmerk op de handschoenen bevestigt de duurzame bosbouw.
Op de plantage wordt ook sociaal verantwoord gewerkt. Met de fairtrade meerprijs voor elke kg rubber worden de levensomstandigheden van de arbeiders verbeterd. "Tot nu toe hebben we 100.000 € aan fairtrade premies betaald" zegt Jeannine Durwael van Lotika. "Arbeiders en management beslissen gezamenlijk over de besteding van de meerprijs. Hiermee is o.a. een project voor schoon drinkwater gefinancierd."
De productie van de handschoenen vindt ook op Sri Lanka plaats. De fabriek gaat op een maatschappelijk verantwoorde manier om met het milieu en met het personeel.
De huishoudhandschoenen zijn groen van kleur, hebben een lange levensduur en zijn duurzaam in het gebruik. Ze zitten lekker en zijn leverbaar in 3 maten: small, medium en large. Bovendien zijn ze biologisch afbreekbaar. Zelfs de verpakking is milieuvriendelijk: een kartonnen doosje dat gemakkelijk recycleerbaar is. De handschoenen zijn verkrijgbaar in de detailhandel en via webshops. De adviesverkoopprijs bedraagt € 2,95.
