Te koop: computers met kartonnen behuizing!
Het bedrijf Recompute is met de productie van computers met een kartonnen behuizing begonnen. Nog deze maand moeten de eerste milieuvriendelijke systemen klaar zijn. In plaats van computers die uit talloze materialen en met diverse productieprocessen worden opgebouwd, wilde de Amerikaan Brenden Macalus op duurzame wijze een systeem bouwen. Hij heeft daarbij geprobeerd het aantal elektronische componenten tot een minimum te beperken. Bovendien zocht hij naar materiaal dat de gebruiker kan weggooien zonder het milieu al te veel te belasten.
Uiteindelijk kwam hij tot een pc met een behuizing die uit vele lagen karton is opgebouwd. De onderdelen zijn eenvoudig in elkaar te zetten. Macalus beperkte zich tot het gebruik van niet-giftige lijm. Bovendien heeft hij geen schroeven of andere metalen verbindingen, of plastic gebruikt. De ventilators van de processor en voeding zelf moeten voor koeling zorgen en om te voorkomen dat deze onderdelen een de temperatuur te hoog laten oplopen, heeft de processoreenheid een apart compartiment gekregen.
Specificaties van het systeem geeft Macalus nog niet, maar waarschijnlijk gaat het om een eenvoudig systeem met slechts een moederbord met cpu en geheugen, een hdd en een voeding. Verdere uitbreiding zal via de acht usb-poorten moeten verlopen. Een prijs en een introductiedatum meldt de ontwerper niet, maar geïnteresseerden worden op een wachtlijst geplaatst en Recompute zal hen de definitieve computers nog deze maand tonen...

Na meer dan 15 jaar ervaring in het ontwerpen van televisies, zou ik wel eens willen zien hoe men een dergelijk product door een CEBEC of KEMA veiligheidskeuring krijgt.
Door alle risico componenten terug te dringen in hun eigen metalen behuizing, zal je meer behuizingen nodig hebben die aan de geldende veiligheidseisen voldoen en verplaats je dus de milieubelastende onderdelen naar de binnenkant. Al eens nagedacht wat er kan gebeuren wanneer een ventilator het opgeeft en de temperatuur toch te hoog oploopt? Of een component die zo heet wordt dat hij van zijn PCB afsmelt en op de kartonnen behuizing terechtkomt?
Hopelijk verbiedt een verstandig mens, de niet door enige kennis gehinderde ontwerpers van dergelijke (goed bedoelde), maar gevaarlijke producten van hun product op de markt te brengen.
Ecologisch verantwoorde producten op de markt brengen, vergt vakkennis en verder denken dat wat een paar fantasten doen.

As you can tell I have definately upgraded my Super Blackfoot. It has a Tekin Rebel esc, Team Associated Firehawk motor, Tamiya oil filled shocks with green Losi springs in the rear, RPM receiver case, TC3 rear body posts, Team Associated antenna tube and mount, Hitec steering servo, and several different wheel and tire combinations. I locked the diff with silly puddy to make it perform better in the snow and it really has made a world of difference. I water proofed the esc by using clear apc certification slicone around the seam of the case. I just purchased a new 97 Dakota body to have some fun with because I love how it looks on the truck. I used to have Ram lights on the rollbar but they have been broken for awhile. I still might pick up another set because it made it a black to run the truck at night. The only thing I really need to do is redisgn the steering system because like so many others there is a ridiculous amount of play in it. a+ certification I saw the thread on RCMT about it and I might try to do something similar. There truck got me started off in the world of RC because after seeing my friends original blackfoot I had to have one. I used to have an original blackfoot that my father picked up at a swap meat but when apple certification I was younger I took it all apart and only kept the parts like the chassis and screws that I could use for my Super Blackfoot. ase certification test It really is too bad I didn't keep it because all the parts where there and I did have it running at one point.

Fijne review, zie alleen af en toe spelfoutjes. Ook vind ik persoonlijk niet dat er schroefloos geinstalleerd wordt, wel schroevendraaierloos. Mijn complimenten voor de rest, je kan de tekst goed aan elkaar schrijven!
Ik kan nog toevoegen dat ik het erg jammer vind dat je de kast van buiten (zonder de deur te openen) niet aan of kan zetten. Ik vind ik het erg jammer dat de USB- en Firewirepoorten samen met de geluidspoorten aan de bovenkant zitten. Zeker als je de kast onder je bureau wilt zetten, kan dat niet.
